Arman's Sourdough Snickerdoodles
This recipe is a great use of extra sourdough starter and yields cookies that have a bread-like texture but distinctive cookie taste.
Makes roughly 24 cookies. I created this recipe! Dope.
Ingredients
Dough
- 113g butter, soft
- 100g white sugar
- 50g brown sugar
- 1 large egg
- 1 tsp. vanilla extract
- 1 tsp. baking powder
- 1 tsp. ground cardamom
- 1 tsp. cream of tartar
- 1/2 tsp. ground nutmeg
- 1/2 tsp. ground cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 100g Sourdough Starter (discard or fed)
- 150g AP flour
- Extra sugar and cinnamon for coating
Instructions
- Combine sugars and butter, mix until creamy
- Add egg to butter mixture
- Add vanilla, salt, and baking powder to mixture
- Add cinnamon, nutmeg, cream of tartar, and cardamom to mixture
- Add starter and flour to the mixture, and stir to combine
- Mixture should be roughly play-doh consistency; if it is a little loose chill in the fridge or freezer while your oven pre-heats
- Preheat oven to 375 F
- Scoop using a teaspoon scoop into balls, roll in cinnamon sugar, and place roughly 1.5 inches apart on baking sheet
- Press with spatula to flatten slightly
- Bake for 9-12 minutes (closer to 9 for softer, bread-like cookies)
